What we basically do as an engineering company and manufacturer of explosion-protected products is to take the ignition source away in the explosion triangle, by moulding, encapsulation and heat limitation. Zone 1 hazardous areas are considered to be a place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur in normal operation occasionally. Our main objective is to ensure the proper selection and installation of apparatus to be used safely in that environment, taking into account the properties of the flammable materials that will be present. The risks from not using the appropriate or properly specified and certified equipment in the wrong areas or zones can be catastrophic with explosion risks endangering personnel and plant. Dpstar’s explosion proof duct heaters come in a wide range of sizes, lengths and watt densities. Because of the construction of the heater they are especially suitable to reach high-temperature transfers, these durable heaters are ruggedly designed for the toughest applications. The temperature rating of the tubular elements which are inside of this product is depending on the desired temperature of the outflow, the watt density, the type of gas and the flow rate.
Dpstar supplies explosion-proof solutions with the ATEX directive, which covers electrical and mechanical equipment for use in areas where there is a risk of explosion. Dpstar successfully designed and supplied EX Zone 1 Duct Heaters to heat moving gas streams for Petronas Chemicals Ethylene Polyethylene. Our duct heaters are custom built to meet client specifications which use tubular heating elements to fit/insert to any duct system compartment with additional built-in safety devices to extend the service life of the heater. They are installed in the middle of a moving air/gas stream in order to provide forced flow heat convection. The electric duct heaters use electricity to warm the air that passes through a duct. It consists of a heating element which converts the electricity into heat through resistance. The resulting heat is transferred by conduction or convection to the air passing through the device. These duct heaters can be used for space, supplementary, and primary heating applications.
